The Advanced Heart and Medical Center offers a full range of adult and pediatric cardiology, bariatrics, and internal medicine as it relates to cardiology and bariatrics. Services are provided in our state-of-the-art facilities by our comprehensive team of experts.
Cardiology Services
The scope of the center is to address prevention of heart and blood vessel diseases and to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic non-invasive interventions using:
- Advanced ultrasound for the heart, carotid arteries, peripheral arteries and veins
- Transesophageal ultrasound and stress echocardiography by pacing and treadmill
- Ramped cardiovascular and pulmonary testing by computer 9 panel technology
- Therapeutic procedures; cardioversion of arrthymias, resuscitation and pacing
- Non-invasive angiography at Harbor UCLA
- Arrhythmia detection by Holter monitors and event recorders
- 24 hour blood pressure measurement
- Sleep apnea detection
Cardiology Outcomes:
In the past four years, out of 4000 patients, we have had no patients die of heart disease and a single patient who was 95, died of a stroke. We attribute these outcomes to the advanced technology in the detection of cardiovascular disease and the treatment of disorders preemptively.
Bariatric Services
Bariatrics is the field of medically supervised weight loss. Our bariatric program is intimately linked to our cardiology services and has as its primary objective the treatment and prevention of excessive weight and its effects on the body.

The program has the most advanced methodology for measuring metabolism using oxygen, carbon dioxide transport mechanisms measuring weight, compartmentalizing the fat content of the body, body water and non-fat mass.
We offer all related cardiac, pulmonary, bariatric, and metabolism testing (non-invasive) equipment.

- Support group for people who have had bariatric surgery
- Behavior modification support from on-staff psychologists
- Diet center for access to a variety of food supplements, protein supplements, instructional manuals, and handouts
Bariatric Outcomes:
Our outcome in bariatrics indicates zero deaths out of 300 patients whom we have referred for gastric surgery and a 95% success in attaining weight and fat goals in medically treated patients.
Facilities
The Center:
The Advanced Heart and Medical Center is located in pleasant arboreal surroundings and is approximately 5,000 square feet in size. It is adjacent to a unit for physical therapy, an advanced gym and to a gymnasium for women which includes a temperature controlled pool. The center has the following range of equipment:
- Examining rooms are spaciously appointed with illustrations on the walls, two types of electronic weighing machines, dictaphones which provide the patient with immediate input into their examination.
- An advanced ramped treadmill lab with gas exchange facilities which measure energy exchange, record a stress electrocardiogram and compute the 9 standard panels of heart and lung physiology as described by Dr. Carl Wasserman, the guru of exercise physiology. The equipment also measures V02 max and anaerobic threshold (AT), the universal measurement of fitness.
- The echocardiographic lab provides visualization of the heart, blood flow, pressures, wall motion of the heart measurement during stress and rest and has the most advanced techniques for the detection of cardiac pathology including the detection of clots that can cause strokes and the detection of holes in the heart. It uses contrast enhancement for the latter purpose and pacemaker enhancement in stress testing in addition to separate treadmill testing combined with echocardiograms.
The center has the art work of local artists on its walls which enlivens its appearance and pleasant music in the background.

The center has facilities for the detection of sleep apnea, cardiac irregularities, and 24 hour blood pressure monitoring and echocardiographic techniques for visualizing the carotid arteries to the brain, the abdominal arteries for aneurysm and tumors as well as the blood supply to the legs using color doppler techniques.
